John R. Mock, retired Architect, accumulated varied experience in planning and architecture over a 40 year period. His firm, Hendrick and Mock Architects, based in San Diego, maintained a general yet comprehensive practice. From 1963 to 1994 the firm completed 686 projects, of which 417 have been constructed.
Throughout his career he has received over 41 Architectural Design and Planning Awards for projects in California, Colorado, Hawaii and Texas from over sixteen different professional, construction trade and civic organizations. Although he has been Architect for many different building types and uses, he is best known for his Hotel and Restaurant designs. He was a pioneer in Highrise load bearing masonry construction starting with the Hanalei Hotel.
