Vintage Polynesia En México

Presented by Mr La Cultura Tiki

The little-known story of Polynesian Pop-inspired bars, restaurants, and hotels in Mexico, from the pre-Tiki era of the 1920s to the late arrivals of the 1970s and 80s. Rarely-seen images and videos will illustrate the story of these establishments, the people behind them, the food and drinks they served, and more, bringing to life the vintage Mexican Tiki experience and the contrasts and similarities with Tiki style across the globe.

Originally from the UK, Mr. La Cultura Tiki, has been based in Mexico since 2014. He is a co-organizer and DJ of the Mexotika Weekend festival and Born to be Cheap parties and is the editor of La Cultura Tiki Fanzine, a Spanish-language DIY zine about all things Tiki–past, present, and future–with a focus on Mexico and the wider Spanish-speaking world.
