Psychedelia Meets The Parents

Presented by Andrew Sandoval

The year 1968 marked the moment psychedelic counterculture permeated mainstream pop culture. The evidence was everywhere: instrumentalist Vinnie Bell dropped Pop Goes The Electric Sitar, and even “Sleepwalk” steel guitarists Santo & Johnny cut a version of “She’s a Rainbow.” Meanwhile, cinema-goers watched films like Skidoo, I Love You Alice B. Toklas and The President’s Analyst that poked fun at the hippie lifestyle. Were the older generation cynically cashing in or suffering from a 1960s case of FOMO? Renowned historian Andrew Sandoval untangles this cultural crossover in an immersive audiovisual presentation.
