Edithe Beutler was a pioneering American colorist whose oil-painted photographs brought vibrant color to black-and-white images of Hawaii’s landscapes. In partnership with Eastman Kodak, she taught oil painting and created colorized photos. She broke societal norms, excelling as an artist, photographer, entrepreneur, and matriarch.
